Art Resource  

Art Resource.
Volunteers for the Art Resource committee assist teachers in the classroom during art resource time and with special projects throughout the year. Specific assistance needed in the following areas: help with art displays and bulletin boards, preparation of art materials at home and at school, art classroom help, and assistance with the Chesterfield County Art Festival (spring). Shop/saw experts are also needed.

Historian.
The purpose of the Historian Committee is to compile a scrapbook recording events and capturing memories from each school year. The album includes photos and memorablilia which are collected throughout the year. Please consider sharing your photos with the committee by placing them in the Historian file located in the front office.

Bylaws

Bylaws.
This committee chair will be responsible for ensuring that Bylaws for Bettie Weaver Elementary School remain in compliance with Local, State and National bylaws requirements. Bylaws are revised and resubmitted every five years from the last date of submission, which in this case was April 25, 2003, making the anniversary date/deadline April 25, 2008. The bylaws committee chair will obtain copies of new requirements well in advance of the filing/submission deadline (probably should be obtained in Fall 2007), prepare proposed revisions, meet with Board members for review/necessary input on proposed changes, and publish proposed changes by posting for requisite time period. Notice forms will be prepared to provide notice of the proposed changes to be made to existing bylaws. The chairperson will attend the PTA meeting where proposed bylaws are presented to general membership to answer any questions and to ensure requisite votes are obtained according to existing bylaws. Approved bylaws are then sent to Virginia PTA/PTSA headquarters for approval and recording. Bylaw forms are preprinted with blanks and there is no need for any extensive re-typing, although, additional changes not repugnant to State and Local requirements may be added. (Previous changes were all handwritten because retyping was actually forbidden). Additionally, bylaws may be amended and submitted to Virginia PTA/PTSA for approval in the interim period, but any such interim amendments will not change the 5-year re-filing requirement for presenting a new, complete set of bylaws. No previous experience with legal documents required. This is a great committee for someone who has superior proofreading skills.

Holiday Shop

Holiday Shop.
The BWE Holiday Shop offers students a chance to shop personally for gifts for friends and family – at a store inside their school! The 2012 Holiday Shop will be open during the school day on December 6 and 7.

Family Nights

Family Nights.
Family Nights are fundraisers held 8 times during the school year, every third Thursday of the month. This is held at a local fast food restaurant (i.e. Chick-Fil-A). Volunteers are needed on this committee to work a one hour shift.
